Rachel Buys

Rachel was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina and grew up whitewater kayaking and rafting with her family. Rachel spent high school with World Class Kayak Academy where she traveled the world whitewater kayaking and getting her high school diploma. She then headed to Oregon for college (originally chasing more rivers) but ended up falling in love with surfing and meeting a whole new community of water sport enthusiasts. Rachel studied Psychology and Spanish at Lewis & Clark College and is deeply curious about the mind and how people grow and learn.

Rachel has a passion for instruction and outdoor education. She teaches kayaking as the president of her college’s Paddle Club and spent a summer surf instructing in Florida. Her favorite part of coaching is watching people surprise themselves with what they can do! Rachel is especially excited to be working at because of how much her own camp counselors meant to her growing up, her summers at camp were some of the best of her life, and she’s so stoked to help make that magic for someone else.
