Operations Director
Carol Yard
Carol’s love for the outdoors began in her childhood in Northwestern Pennsylvania, where she spent countless hours exploring the woods behind her home. That early curiosity and connection with nature grew into a lifelong passion, taking her from camper to counselor, environmental educator, wilderness guide, camp director, and now, operations director.
She holds a B.S. in Biology from Grove City College and an M.A. in Experiential Education, Camping, and Leadership from Wheaton College. Throughout her career, Carol has led a wide range of outdoor adventure programs across the U.S. and around the world. She loves seeing people grow—both individually and together—while adventuring in unique natural environments.
Now happily anchored in Wilmington, her adventurous spirit still thrives. Among her future travel goals, Alaska and Antarctica are the final state and continent on her bucket list. An avid ocean enthusiast, Carol enjoys paddling in her sea kayak and is a devoted animal lover. She is especially excited to be part of a team that supports sea turtle and ocean conservation.
Carol brings a wealth of experience and a deep sense of wonder for the natural world to her role. She looks forward to supporting the staff and inspiring others to embrace adventure and cultivate their own lifelong love for the ocean.
