Cameron Garrett
Cameron was born in North Carolina and grew up all around the South East, spending every summer in the Outer Banks where she developed a strong connection to the ocean.Ā Ā During her senior year of high school, she learned about California’s declining kelp forests and decided to pursue a career in ocean conservation.
She will graduate from the University of Georgia in 2026 with a bachelor’s degree in Ocean Science. Cameron was able to participate in a semester on the Georgia Coast where she gained hands-on research experience through an overnight research cruise and a shoreline change mapping project, further strengthening her desire to live and work by the ocean.
Outside of academics, Cameron loves wake surfing, rock climbing, circus arts, reading (only fiction), and trying local coffee shops. She discovered her passion for rock climbing during her second year of college, where she quickly snagged two jobs at rock climbing gyms, including teaching summer camps! In that role, she prioritized creating a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for campers.Ā
