Ocean Rescue Instructor
Colin Kern
Colin Kern is an experienced ocean lifeguard and rescue professional with over 8 years at Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue, where he has conducted more than 100 career rescues. He currently serves as a Firefighter, Technical Rescuer, and EMT at Wilmington Fire Department’s Station 2—one of the busiest and specialized stations in the city, a role he has held for the past 3 years.
A passionate surfer since childhood, Colin has traveled the globe chasing waves and honing his skills in the water. In addition to his aquatic expertise, he is an accomplished mountaineer, having summited all the Adirondack High Peaks, Mt. Washington, Mt. Hood, the Presidential Traverse, and will be attempting a summit of Mt. Rainier next month.
Colin combines his extensive rescue experience, firefighting skills, and love for adventure to teach ocean safety and rescue techniques, ensuring participants learn valuable skills in a fun and safe environment.
