Thankful

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it is the time of the year that everyone declares what they are grateful for. While we might not have a mountain top to shout it from, WB Surf Camp does have an immense amount that we are thankful for…

A NW wind, pelicans gliding inches over the crests of breaking waves, long endless lines, lengthy sessions with close friends, fall barrels and small fun-in-the-sun summer waves, a clean beach with golden sand as far as the eye can see, or an empty point break- the list literally could go on forever. We know that when special moments like this come around, they are not taken for granted; if anything, they take our breath away.

We wouldn’t have these moments if it wasn’t for one thing: our benevolent ocean.

As surfers, we share the unconditional love for nature that fuels our passion to leave this world a better place. There is nothing that could blend together such diverse feelings- moments of accomplishment, astonishment, and complete awe, like our ocean does. Along with the love for the sport comes an indebted honor to keep our mother ocean looking and feeling her finest.  Like Kelly Slater said, “I think when a surfer becomes a surfer, it’s almost like an obligation to be an environmentalist at the same time.” We agree.

Every year, WB Surf Camp continuously works to help communities around the world become educated stewards of the environment- it is the foundation of all that we do. It is important to us that we work hard to educate and instill a love for our ocean and its habitat in everyone that is a part of our program. We are so thankful that we are able to share and see those experiences unfold in our campers.
