Grateful for our surfing lifestyle!

We have a word we like to use a lot in the WB Surf Camp office: GRATITUDE.  We open all of our company meetings the same way, by sharing with our coworkers one thing we are truly grateful for.  It’s a way to share with each other the things in life we hold sacred as well as express our appreciation for the good things we have all experienced. Gratitude is defined by Webster’s dictionary as “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.” As surfers we have so much to be thankful for…the most obvious being a lifestyle that allows us to spend large amounts of our precious time in the greatest and most wonderful environment on earth…the ocean.

Day 5 (4 of 8)Even more, we at Surf Camp get the chance to share our love for the ocean with those who don’t necessarily get to enjoy its splendor everyday as we do. Living on the coast in southeastern North Carolina is truly a gift that we all hold very dear. The ability to share with others our deep rooted love for the surfing lifestyle is something we are beyond grateful to have. Simple things like seeing the sunrise over the ocean’s horizon, or the feeling of offshore wind spraying gentle water droplets on your face as you paddle out make us thankful.  We are stewards of the ocean and strive to instill a love and respect for the environment in everyone who attends our programs.  For this, we are thankful.

Thanksgiving is the time of year where most of us tell others of everything we are thankful for. We talk around the dinner table, or in the backyard while tossing football. If we’re lucky, we might even get some waves to ride before we sit down and have a Thanksgiving dinner.  This year, our area was exposed to hardships brought on by Hurricane Matthew.  While we as East Coast surfers like to have fun in the powerful and perfect waves brought on by such storms, there is a bigger picture…safety.  We are grateful to have weathered the storm and come out safe.

WB Surf Camp would like to express our gratitude to you this Thanksgiving week. Our friends, families, and campers are truly important to us and we are very thankful for each of you past and present. We hope you will take a moment to reflect on everything you’re grateful for. Family, friends, safety, the ocean…they’re all important and worthy of thanks!
