Tons of Confidence Building Aquatic Activities

The waters around Topsail Island, where camp is based, are ideal for just about any water sport you can imagine. On the ocean side, consistent beginner friendly waves cater to surfers of all levels. Topsails calm sound-side waters are perfect for paddle boarding and kayaking while navigating tidal creeks and coastal estuaries where native wildlife abounds.

Up Close Interactions with Sea Creatures

A cruise down the coast takes campers to the North Carolina Aquarium, where your camper will view a variety of sea life, including sea turtles, stingrays, sharks, and colorful tropical fish. Learning about the wonders of the sea with educational exhibits and interactive displays is just one exciting component. Campers will be able to engage hands on by touch tanks that let they get up close and personal with marine creatures, and even feeding some of them! Campers will be mesmerized by a colorful display of jellyfish and are sure to smile watching a family of otters frolic in a waterfall.

Your camper will gain a unique insight into endangered sea creatures at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. Over its nearly three decades of operation, the world-renowned facility has treated thousands of sick and injured turtles before returning them into the wild. Meet the turtles in their tanks, learn about their habitats and diets, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the hospitals life-saving work.

Learn the importance of conserving ecosystems with an exploratory trip to a salt marsh. Using nets, campers catch and release creatures such as marsh snails, blue crabs, and fiddler crabs. All the while learning about local flora and keeping an eye out for the snowy egrets and blue herons that swoop through the air.

Lots More Fun on Land

Hows their hula dancing? Your camper will get a chance to show off your moves at a Hawaiian luau. Bond with other campers while playing volleyball, beach bocce ball, ping-pong, foosball, and more. Then gather with the gang to catch a surf movie to get amped for the next mornings waves.

With an incredible camper-instructor ratio of 2:1, your camper will receive specialized training in the waves and attention on land.
