WB Surf Camp Program Highlight – Spring Break Teen Overnight Camp

Wilmington is one of the best places to learn to surf, but did you know that outside of our summer season, we can also have some world class waves? Winter and spring are our primary wave seasons. With consistent offshore winds and storms, Wilmington can become a veritable wave factory. We want our participants to experience all the conditions Wilmington has to offer, so we have begun to offer a program set during students’ spring breaks.

This will be the second year in a row that we have offered our Teen Overnight Spring Break camp in Surf City, NC. We will stay in an ocean view house just steps away from one of our favorite breaks. Campers will get endless hours in the waves with our veteran surf coach, Jeff Carver. When we aren’t surfing, campers will relax, watch surf movies and play games. Getting to know other surfers your own age is an important way to start building your own surf community, and to have buddies to paddle out with outside of camp.

This opportunity is a fantastic way to get ready for summer surfing and shake off some cobwebs. We are accepting absolute beginners, so no surfing experience is necessary, just an ability to swim. We can also accommodate intermediate and advanced surfers and help them take their surfing to the next level.

This program runs April 5-10 for the 2020 season. Weather and water temps can vary this time of year so wetsuits are typically necessary, but the wave quality more than makes up for it. We are going to find the best waves Southeastern North Carolina has to offer and will even make a trip to Masonboro Island, one of the hidden gem surf spots in Wilmington.
