WB Surf Camp Offers Bags for Bucks Program

Over the past decade, participants of all  WB Surf Camp programs have collected thousands of pounds of trash off beaches all over the world. Last year alone our campers performed over 1,000 hours of community service during their summer. This year, we strive to surpass that mark by encouraging students to volunteer in their own communities, earning credit towards their Surf Camp program tuition. The winner collecting the most trash will receive a free spot in their week-long Wrightsville Beach Teen Overnight Camp, valued at $1,595!

How it works

Returning Campers: For every grocery-sized bag of trash you fill, you will receive a credit of $10 towards your WB Surf Camp tuition. You may collect trash from any public locations as long as it is not near a road (for safety reasons). You may collect one bag of trash per week to be counted towards your total. **

• Wrightsville Beach Overnight Camps: collect up to 10 bags (credit up to $100)

• Travel & Specialty Camps: collect up to 15 bags (credit up to $150)

• Day Camps: collect up to 5 bags (credit up to $50)

All Campers: New and Returning

Family and friends can sponsor you, contributing any amount they choose towards your tuition for every bag of trash you collect. We will send you a description of Bags for Bucks for your sponsors to read so they can learn about what you are doing.

Rewards

• You will earn money towards your WB Surf Camp tuition, helping to achieve your goal of attending a life-changing summer camp!

• You will play a vital role in the health of our environment by removing trash that would otherwise have ended up polluting our waterways. You rock!

Whoever collects the most bags wins a free week in our Teen Wrightsville Beach Overnight Camp- valued at $1,595!

How to participate

• Call WB Surf Camp at 910.256.SURF to sign up.

• We will email you a form to keep track of your sponsors and how many bags you collect.

• Take a picture of each bag of trash you collect and post it to our Facebook page. We will check our page daily for newly posted photos.

• At the end of the program, send us your form and the money you’ve earned from your sponsors and we will credit your invoice.
