Day 3, Costa Rica Surf Camp
After my routine walk to the bakery, Moe, Steve, Rick and I boarded our boat for the quick run over to Playa Grande. As soon as we were about half-way across Tamarindo Bay, I could see and feel the sizable sets moving under our Panga. It was all I could do to not jump out of the boat while it was still moving and paddle towards the lineup. I could see spray shooting out the back of perfect A-frames thanks to the constant offshore wind. One of the most distinct memories I have of that morning was watching Moe paddle into a perfect over-head left and scream down the line. Even though I was having a blast, I couldn’t help but think about how perfect the wave in front of our hotel must have been for the rest of our clients.
Sure enough, when we returned to the hotel everyone was discussing how fun and playful the wave in front of the hotel was all morning. While I relaxed and thought about all the perfect waves we caught at Playa Grande, many of the clients, including Fast Eddie, headed into town to do some more bargain hunting. To my surprise, Fast managed to find a lady that would make him custom purple lycra boardshorts to keep him more comfortable in the water… wow…only in Tamarindo!
After another memorable group surf session out front with a great sunset as a backdrop, we showered up and walked into town for what was of course an amazing meal at Dragon Fly. Dinner was again perfect, the food was great and Captain Ted has us in stitches the whole time.
