Staff Highlight- Meet Adam S!
As we gear up for another stoke filled season at WB Surf Camp, we sat down with a few of our Surf Coaches and Camp Counselors to ask some questions that future campers or even staff might want to know. Adam Stogdill, who just wrapped up his first season with us as a Surf Instructor and Activities Coordinator, is already thinking about next summer and took the time to share his thoughts about working on the beaches of south-eastern North Carolina.
- What drew you to a position at WB Surf Camp?
The ability to work in a fun environment with great people that promotes positivity and well-being through surfing, and to simply “live the dream” by teaching people how to surf drew me to apply for a position at WB Surf Camp.
- In what way has the ocean impacted your life?
The ocean has impacted my life enough for me to move 1,000 miles across the country to be able to surf everyday right here in North Carolina!
- What is your favorite place you’ve traveled to?
My favorite place I’ve travelled to would be Iceland. The scenery is amazing, the culture is very welcoming, and not to mention the waves can get really good around there!
- Who/what is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration would be my mom, she’s the nicest and most hard working person I’ve ever known and I strive to be like her everyday.
- What are some of your interests outside of surfing?
Other than surfing, I enjoy hunting, fishing, paddleboarding, and riding dirtbikes.
- What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is an oldie The Shawshank Redemption about staying focused and resilient despite the circumstances.
- What is your favorite food?
Can’t beat a good fish/chicken/steak taco! SurfBerry Açaà bowls come in at a close second!
- What is your favorite WB Surf Camp memory?
My most memorable experience working at WB Surf Camp was at Teen Overnight Camp in Topsail when I had the privilege to instruct a midwestern grom who never surfed before. It reminded me of my childhood living away from the ocean, and how much it meant to share the experience with another person who understands that. I was stoked to be a part of his first surfing experience with him!
Adam is one of our instructors who is available teach year round, so if you are looking for a private lesson before the busy season starts back up give us a call at 910.256.7873.  If he’s booked on the day you want to surf, no worries! We have several other great people ready to jump in the water and get you on your first waves.
